Why Node.js?
Node.js is the backbone of the Discord bot community. With libraries like discord.js, you can build anything from a simple moderation bot to a complex game. But to keep it running 24/7, you need a reliable server.
Step 1: Prepare for Deployment
Ensure your project is ready for the cloud:
- package.json: Make sure all your dependencies (like
discord.js) are listed. - Main File: Ensure your entry point (usually
index.js) is clean and tested. - Environment Variables: Use a
.envfile for your bot token.
Step 2: Uploading to Orihost
- Create Your Server: Select a Bot Hosting Plan. Our free tier is great for starters, but our Tier 1 (€1.00) offers more RAM for smoother performance.
- Upload Files: Use the web-based file manager to upload your project files.
- Install Dependencies: The Orihost panel will automatically run
npm installfor you if it detects apackage.json.
Step 3: Startup Command
In the Startup tab of your dashboard, set the command to node index.js. Click start, and your bot is now live 24/7!
Scaling to Professional Performance
As your bot joins more servers, it will consume more memory and CPU. Upgrading to our Premium Bot Hosting provides:
- Unmetered Resources: Never worry about your bot being suspended for high usage.
- MySQL Databases: Included for free to store user data, levels, and settings.
- Global Locations: Host your bot closer to Discord's servers for lower latency.
